Vacaville Educational Connections

Vacaville Educational Connections

Vacaville Unified School District offers two options under the Vacaville Educational Connections umbrella for children in grades K-6. Our alternative programs fall under two categories named At Home Learning Program and Vacaville Virtual Learning Academy (VVLA).

The two at home options helps meet students' individual needs and offers support to families who choose an alternative route to educate their children. The first option is our  Home Learning Program where the parent/guardian will partner with a credentialed Advisory Teacher to create a customized educational plan for their student that will meet the California State Standards. The second option is our Vacaville Virtual Learning Academy where students will connect with a teacher through distance learning.

At Home Learning Program

The Elementary At Home Learning program helps meet students' individual needs and offers support to families who choose to educate their children at home. The parent/guardian will partner with a credentialed Advisory Teacher to create a customized educational plan for their student that will meet the California State Standards.

Why Consider homeschool opportunities?

  • Families have flexibility with when and where to study.
  • Families are supported by a high quality credentialed advisor (teacher).
  • There will be flexibility in scheduling meetings with educational advisors both in person and virtually.
  • Educational Advisors partner with families to personalize the students' educational plans.
  • Families may choose from a menu of curricular options and be equipped with curriculum resources for educating their child

Vacaville Virtual Learning Academy (VVLA)

The Vacaville Virtual Learning Academy is an innovative technology based academic program made to support children in the elementary grades (K-6) through a virtual learning classroom. The VVLA remote learning program involves teachers providing support with core instruction and student engagement to pursue learning opportunities. Parents take a significant and active role in the instruction and supervision of their child while being supported with remote learning by a  virtual learning teacher. The difference between this program and traditional independent study programs is the classroom community, social connectedness, and the daily academic support provided by virtual learning instructors. Virtual learning instructors provide instruction using district-adopted curriculum consistent with the district's approved course of study with a focus on essential learning standards aligned with the state grade level expectations. VVLA recognizes the parents desire an online learning experience that has the rigor of a brick and mortar program that meets the needs of their child and strives to provide an excellent educational program. Families have access to district standard resources such as district curriculum and district supported technology through a Chromebook.
