TK/Kindergarten Registration

TK Registration/Kindergarten

Online enrollment begins February 14, 2022 which can be complete through your school of residency's website. In-Person enrollment begins February 28, 2022 and can be completed at your school of residency unless you are enrolling in a special program or charter school. We encourage you to register your child by June 1, 2022 to help us determine our facility needs for the 2022-2023 school year.  Many of our schools fill their classes quickly. It is imperative that parents enroll as soon as possible to ensure a spot for your child. 

  • Kindergarten (K) is available for children who have turned 5 on or before September 1, 2022.  
  • Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is available for children turning 5 between September 2, 2022 and February 2, 2023.

 

Registration Requirements

Children must be five years old on or before September 1, 2022 to be eligible for Kindergarten. Birthdays between September 2, 2017 and February 2, 2018 are eligible for Transitional Kindergarten.

Immunization Requirements

State law requires that an immunization document be completed prior to entering school. NOTE: Children must meet immunization requirements even if they are not yet five years old in order to start in August 2022.

Health Physical Examination

TK students need to have a health exam dated within one year of school entry. K students need to have the health exam given after 4 years, 3 months of age). Proof of an appointment is required for school entry.

Dental Health Assessment

An oral health exam is due May 31st of TK, K or 1st grade year whichever is the first year in a public school.

Proof of Residency

All students enrolling in Vacaville USD schools are required to present a document as proof of residency within the specified attendance area of the Vacaville Unified School District. 

 

More about Transitional Kindergarten

  • Parents should register age eligible child at the school of residency or online through the Aeries portal located on your schools website.
  • TK is not available at all of our elementary school sites.  Parents will be contacted about school placement in July.
  • TK classes are currently held at Fairmont, Hemlock, and Markham elementary schools.

TK represents a true bridge between preschool and regular traditional kindergarten. Taught by credentialed teacher with early childhood experience, TK uses a unique, specialized curriculum that is based on the California Standards for Kindergarten but is designed explicitly to support the social, emotional, physical, and academic needs of young five year olds. Please note per board policy: Transitional Kindergarten is available for students whose birthday is between September 2, 2017 through February 2, 2018. Only these birthdays will be accepted for this programRegular attendance is expected and monitored.
